Darrin Hansen
Darrin Hansen of North Platte, Nebraska, passed away at home on December 1, 2021. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and a grandfather known as ‘Papa’. Darrin was born in North Platte, the third child of Ray and Carol Hansen. He attended Hall School, Madison Junior High and graduated from NPHS in 1983. He hired out with the UPRR in 1989 and was employed as an Engineer for 28 years and served as a UTU Local #7 Griever for 8 years.
In 1992 Darrin met Voni DuBry and they were united in marriage in May of ’98. After meeting his wife Voni, they made their home of 23 years in North Platte. Voni was his one true love and whenever they could, they enjoyed country dancing. His second love, pride and joy was his Harley Davidson Motorcycle.
Darrin was a member of the APA Pool League and greatly enjoyed shooting Sunday 9-Ball. Every chance he got he was at his brother Tim’s, asking if he wanted a shot at the “Title”.
Summertime was his favorite time with the pool up, kids swimming, cold beer and BBQ’s. July 4th was “his” holiday. You could find him in the evenings at the patio table out back, drinking beer and singing from his favorite playlist on his phone. He loved camping with family, bonfires, teaching the kids to ride the jet ski - but most of all he loved sunsets over the lake.
Darrin’s most memorable trait was that he always made sure to tell his children and grandchildren that he loved them with all his heart.
He is Dad & Papa to: Tina (Darrel) Woodbeck & Kids, Dakotah Hansen, Calysta Hansen Deacon Nelson & Harleigh Woodbeck; Ashley DuBry & Kids, Shelbi & Serenity Beck-DuBry; Brittni DuBry (Will Horton) & Kids, Xzavier & Cecilia Horton; Korttni DuBry (Joshua Peck) & Kids, Gauge Florom (His Dad Jeff Florom) Gavin & Gracie Peck; and Nathan DuBry. He is a Brother & Uncle to: Kim (Lynn) Torske & Kids, Lynn, Jr. & Craig Torske; and Tim Hansen (Linda Jobman) & Kids, Jason, Joey & Timmy Hansen. He is the Son of: Carol Hansen & the Late Ray Hansen; and Husband to Voni.
Darrin will always be loved, missed and in our hearts. “Fly high my love” – Voni
