Dan Grant

FORT WORTH, Texas - Daniel Eric Grant, 43, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of North Platte, died June 17, 2008, at his home in Fort Worth with his fiance, Ellen, by his side. Daniel was born April 2, 1965, to Harry Justin and Barbara Jean Britt Grant in North Platte. When he was three years old, his father passed away April 6, 1968. Barbara remarried to Jerry Gene Schnacker April 15, 1969. He grew up in North Platte and received his education in the North Platte schools where he enjoyed art and music and he sang in all of the school choirs. During his last year of high school, Daniel met and later married Jonelle Stamm and they had one child, Samantha Kay Grant. That same year he enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following his basic training in New Jersey, he was stationed in Nicaragua and later in El Paso, Texas, where he was honorably discharged after his four years of service. They continued to reside in El Paso until they divorced and Daniel moved back to North Platte. He worked for Best Lennon for several years. Daniel met Dea Matlock and they had one child, Mariah Jaboua Matlock Grant. They moved to Lincoln and later on they separated. He moved to Fort Worth, where he worked in a factory as a machine operator for 10 years. Daniel met Ellen and they had one child, Tamara Rose Grant. He enjoyed working on his home and he loved music, his animals, his rose garden, going to movies and working on cars. He enjoyed being with his friends and Ellen, the love of his life. Survivors include his fiance, Ellen of Fort Worth; three daughters, Samantha Kay Grant of North Platte and her children, Michelle and Zander Yates, Mariah Jaboua Matlock Grant of Gering and Tamara Rose Grant; his mother, Barbara Schnacker of North Platte; one brother, Jerry (Marshia) Grant of Arnold and their son, Joshua (fiance, Erin) of Kearney; one sister, Tammi (Tony) Amos and their son, Toby of North Platte; grandparents, Mac and Doris Schnacker of North Platte; three aunts, Lori (Bob) Berg of San Jose, Calif., and their children Lindsey of Chicago and Amber of Reno, Nev., Karen Schnacker of North Platte and Cheryl (Ron) Joy of Holdrege and their children, Dennis (Lori) of Springdale, Ark., and his children, Ryan and Alicia and child of Holdrege, Cherie (Drew) Gregory of Nixa, Mo., and her children, Zack and Nathan. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Justin Grant; one sister, Kathleen Sue Grant; grandparents, Jess (Mae) Grant and Viola Verna Britt; one aunt, Gloria Placet; stepfather, Jerry Schnacker; step-grandfather, Print Slater; two uncles, Vernon (Juliette) Britt and Don Britt; and mother-in-law, Edith Stamm. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service was in Fort Worth. Published in the North Platte Telegraph on 6/28/2008.
